Set the GPS for Rentown Country Store

One of the most essential elements of cooking consists of aromatic spices which can put quite a pinch on your wallet. Have you ever thought about trying a new recipe but the spice price tag was simply astronomical? Instead of setting your destination to the routine overpriced supermarket chain, plan to take a mini road trip to the quiet countryside of Bremen, Indiana. Settled in Amish Country, Rentown Country Store is a local establishment owned and operated by Mr. Dennis Hochstetler. Often seen with a smile greeting to all those who come, Mr. Hochstetler's store offers a welcoming, down home country feel. At times, you may even hear variations of Dutch and German upon your visit, reminding you that English is not the only spoken language! Rentown Country Store is truly a one-of-a-kind establishment where you can either purchase items individually or in bulk. Instead of purchasing overpriced mini-glass jars crowded on shelves at the supermarket, Rentown offers a large variety of fresh ingredients. Packaged within a couple days of purchase, you are not only going to notice the punch of flavor, but also the inexpensive price tag.

While you are at Rentown, be sure to browse and take in the aromatic flavors of their homemade Amish baked goods that are prepared in house daily. Be sure to arrive before noon, as most of the baked goods sell relatively quick. If you have a hankering for homemade pickles and jams, several shelves are at your fingertips. As you stroll through the store, be sure to check out the the variety-filled cheese case. From familiar cheeses such as smoked gouda, aged cheddar, co-jack, mozzarella, and Swiss to the showcased habanero ghost cheese and jalapeño, there's sure to be something for every cheese lover! On special occasions, you may even be able to see a 1-ton mild cheddar cheese wheel shipped from the cheese-head state of Wisconsin. Surprisingly, it only lasts 6-8 weeks before it is sold out!

For meat lovers, Rentown has several varieties of sliced meats: roast beef, turkey, assorted hams, salami, Canadian bacon, and even pepperoni. Unlike pre-packaged Oscar Meyer lunch meats, the meats at Rentown are packed with flavor and will compliment any pizza, salad, or sandwich. With fresh ingredients, the possibilities for indulging your taste buds are endless. For the sweet tooth, there are several bins full of sweet, sugary delicacies. From nostalgic circus peanuts, pixie sticks, candy buttons, red hots, and sour gummies to delicate macaroons and buckeyes, the price tag will be sure not to disappoint. For the warmer months, be sure to pack a cooler!
